Ski resorts may see some relief
Monday, Jan. 10, 2000 | 12:35 p.m.
Chains or snow tires were required Monday afternoon on U.S. Highway 50 over Echo Summit and Highway 88 over Carson Pass, but Interstate 80 over Donner Summit had no controls.
No major weather-related accidents were reported.
Ski resort operators are hoping a series of storms expected this week will drop enough snow so they can finally swing into full gear.
Most resorts said their numbers were down over the recent holiday period because of below-average snows. The Tahoe Basin snowpack stands at 20 percent of normal.
