Karen Denio is replacing Wendell Newman, who retired as of Jan. 1.
She most recently served as director of development for Nevada Rural Counties Retired Senior Volunteer Program. Before that, she was Reid's rural Nevada coordinator.
"She is well aware of the needs of Nevada's farmers, and I am confident she'll put that knowledge to good use in this new position."
In Nevada, the Farm Service Agency supports 2,000 producers statewide and hundreds of loan recipients. The agency supports farmers through a variety of programs.
Reid nominated Denio to Agriculture Secretary Dan Glickman, who confirmed the nomination after consultation with President Clinton.
