Inquest petition re-filed by local friend

A similar request for a grand jury by the girl's mother, Tammy Stelton, was denied last year because Stelton lives out of state.

The latest petition was filed in Carson District Court by Stelton's friend, Karen Perdue.

Sadie Natasha Jennings, 17, was found dead in her father's Carson City apartment, but an autopsy failed to pinpoint the cause of her death.

Stelton has accused local law enforcement authorities of bungling the case and participating in a coverup.

She contends her daughter may have been killed by drug dealers who were upset at Stelton's ex-husband for working as a police informant.

District Attorney Noel Waters said he has found no record that her ex-husband acted in that capacity and her accusations are "completely groundless."
