Meeting scheduled at Whitney Ranch Library
Residents wanting to start Neighborhood Watch programs can attend an informational meeting on Wednesday at the Whitney Ranch Library.
The meeting, at 5175 E. Tropicana Ave., begins at 7 p.m., and will inform residents how to obtain supplies and organize their neighborhoods, Metro Police said.
Police also will explain changes that allow Neighborhood Watches to access crime information about their neighborhoods.

Nominations sought for women's awards
The attorney general's office is seeking nominations for the sixth annual Nevada Women's Role Model Awards.
Nominations must be completed and postmarked by Feb. 11.
The recipients, five from Northern Nevada and five from Southern Nevada will be announced in March, Women's History Month.
Nomination forms are available in Las Vegas by calling 486-3420.
Series of open-house meetings on tap
The Southern Nevada census offices will host a series of open houses to inform and involve elected officials, business leaders and community groups in Census 2000.
The next open house will be held 1-2:30 p.m. Friday at the North Las Vegas Census Office, 4224 Arcata Way. Call 633-0922.
