Last week: Ferguson was named to an all-tournament team for the third straight week after helping his squad to the Mayor's Cup division title at the Nike Prep Classic in San Diego. His 27-point effort in a win over Oceanside (Calif.) broke the Panthers' school record. Also in December, Ferguson made the all-tourney squad at the Cactus Classic in Mesquite and the all-Silver Cup division team at the Reebok Holiday Prep Classic.

This season: Ferguson, the Panthers' starting center, leads the club with averages of 15.1 points and 7.6 rebounds for 12-7 Palo Verde. "He's gone from a real good athlete on the JV three years ago to someone who is very hard to stop when he gets the ball in the post," Panthers coach Phil Clarke said. Offered Ferguson: "I decided to take it up strong this year."
