Coalition schedules meeting on Tuesday
The Breast Cancer Coalition will meet at 6:45 p.m. Tuesday on the eighth floor of the Wells Fargo Building, 3800 Howard Hughes Parkway.
The goals of the coalition are to promote and support research into the cause and prevention of breast cancer, to educate women that early detection is today's key to long-term survival and provide more treatment options. Call 361-5394.
Low-cost screening planned at Belz mall
Belz Factory Outlet World is sponsoring low-cost OsteoDex Osteoporosis Bone Mineral Density Testing for everyone age 20 and older.
This testing is being done 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday in front of the Green Food Court near the main entrance to the mall, 7400 Las Vegas Blvd.
The testing is being provided by the International Osteoporosis Assessment Project to bring attention to the Nevada Walks For Strong Bones 2000, which will be held Jan. 15 at the mall.
Pricing for this normally $100 test is only $25 for those 20 to 64 years old, $10 for individuals age 65 and older and free for those who register to participate in the Nevada Walks For Strong Bones 2000 with a donation of $50 or more.

Mayor's wife will address group Tuesday
The Korean-American Women's Association of Las Vegas will meet 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at the O.K. Korean Restaurant, 17 E. Oakey Blvd.
The guest speaker will be Carolyn Goodman, wife of Mayor Oscar Goodman.
Mrs. Goodman is president and trustee of the Meadows School. She will speak about education opportunities for children in Clark County.

Friendship group planned for snowbirds
The Jewish Community Center of Southern Nevada is currently forming a chavurah (friendship group) for snowbirds, to provide an opportunity for Jewish visitors to Las Vegas in winter.
Snowbirds will have an opportunity to meet other Jews and be part of a group for friendship and a variety of social activities. Call 794-0090.
Rugged 8-mile hike scheduled on Saturday
Guided hikes and informative talks are offered by the Lake Mead National Recreation Area free at the park's Alan Bible Visitor Center northeast of Boulder City. Reservations are required for the guided hikes. Call 293-8990.
A rugged 8-mile, very strenuous hike is planned Saturday down a dry wash. The hike, which requires rock scrambling, will start at Boy Scout Canyon, which ends at an overlook of the Colorado River just below Hoover Dam on the Nevada side.
Elvis marathon
An Elvis Movie Marathon is being presented by the Las Vegas Department of Leisure Services at 5 p.m. Saturday at the Johnson Community School, 340 Villa Monterey. Call 229-6175.
Ski trip
Accent Social and Ski Club of Las Vegas is offering a ski trip Jan. 14-16 in Elk Meadows, Utah. The trip includes two nights lodging with hot tub and two lift tickets for $58. Call 392-7669.
