Southwest Airlines will begin service to Albany, N.Y., in May, the Dallas-based company said today.
No schedule or pricing from Las Vegas was announced and it's likely McCarran International Airport would have one-stop service to New York's capital city.
Southwest, Las Vegas' largest air carrier with 149 daily flights, will now fly to 56 cities in 29 states. It has a fleet of twin-engine Boeing 737 jets.
The announcement came a day after America West Airlines announced it would launch service to Hartford, Conn., from Phoenix in April. America West, the No. 2 McCarran carrier with 78 daily flights, operates a Las Vegas hub. The Hartford flight will operate on a 124-passenger Airbus A319 twin-engine jet.
