UNLV assistant strength and conditioning coach John Binkowski has left the school to take the head job at Northern Illinois, the Dekalb-based university announced Tuesday. Binkowski, 31, had worked at UNLV under head coach Mark Philippi since 1993. He assisted with football and oversaw the strength and conditioning programs of men's and women's basketball, baseball and volleyball. At NIU, Binkowski will oversee all 17 of the Huskies' intercollegiate sports. Binkowski, a native of Illinois, graduated in 1991 from Western Illinois where he lettered three years as an offensive lineman.
