Park Place shuffles AC management

Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2000 | 10:14 a.m.

ATLANTIC CITY -- Park Place Entertainment Corp. fired two top Caesars Atlantic City executives just six days after acquiring Caesars World Inc., the Press of Atlantic City reported today.

The newspaper said Audrey Oswell, only the third female chief casino executive in Atlantic City's 21 years of gaming, was fired Tuesday just 11 months after taking over as president at Caesars and leading the property to its best year ever.

She was replaced by Gary DiBartolomeo, who was promoted to president from his post as vice president of national marketing. DiBartolomeo, 45, joined Caesars in 1994 after working for the Trump Organization.

Park Place also fired Alan Rivin, vice president of hotel and food and beverage operations, the Press reported. And the company stripped three other Caesars executives of their titles and transferred them to other jobs at the Atlantic City Hilton, the newspaper said.

Park Place has replaced financial and operations executives with marketing experts in key positions in its Atlantic City properties, the Press said.

A spokesman at Park Place headquarters in Las Vegas couldn't be reached for comment today about possible management changes at its properties here.

Park Place completed its acquisition of Caesars World last week, and there's been speculation Park Place Chairman Arthur Goldberg wants to install Las Vegas Hilton President Dean Harrold in the top position at Caesars Palace and promote Caesars President Paul O'Neil to a position at corporate headquarters.

Goldberg has said other personnel changes at Caesars Palace would be minimal.
