Donald Lee Roy Backus

Donald Lee Roy Backus, 66, of Las Vegas died Thursday in Las Vegas. He was born March 13, 1933, in Michigan. A resident for 10 years, he was a roofer and an Army veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Arletta; two sons, David Backus and Darrell Wiegert, both of Michigan.

Desert Memorial Cremation and Burial Society, 1111 Las Vegas Blvd. North, is handling arrangements.

Norman E. Call

Norman E. Call, 36, of Las Vegas died Sunday in a local hospital. He was born Aug. 14, 1963, in Nuevo Casas Grandes Chihuahua, Mexico. A resident for 12 years, he owned and operated NEC Air Conditioning and Heating.

He is survived by his wife, Noreen; three daughters, Jamie Call, Jessica Call and Janice Call, and two sons, Justin Arnold Call and Jacob Ronald Call, all of Las Vegas; his mother, Glenna Call of Provo, Utah; three brothers, Marion Call of Silver City, N.M., Clarence Call of Milford, Utah, and Adrian Call of Las Vegas; and two sisters, Juliana Steele of Las Vegas and Kristine Worthington of Provo.

Visitation is scheduled 5-7 p.m. Thursday in Palm Mortuary, 7400 W. Cheyenne Ave. Additional information is scheduled one hour prior to 11 a.m. services Friday in the Meadows Stake Center, 3200 Mustang St.

Rachel Camilla Clarke

Rachel Camilla Clarke, 73, of Las Vegas died Monday in a local hospital. She was born Sept. 27, 1926, in Mississippi. A resident for 7 1/2 years, she was a retired theater cashier.

She is survived by one daughter, Phyllis Chavez of Las Vegas; one sister, Anita Small of Bastrop, Texas; two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Ricardo Galaviz

Ricardo Galaviz, 20, of Las Vegas died Saturday. He was born Nov. 27, 1979, in California. A resident for one year, he was an employment agency manager.

He is survived by his parents, Sixto and Rosalba Galaviz, and three sisters, Lorena Torres, Brenda Galaviz and Beatriz Galaviz, all of Las Vegas; two brothers, Javier Torres of Henderson and Sixto Galaviz of Las Vegas; and his grandparents, Fernando and Urbana Figueroa of Mexico and Sixto and Juanita Galaviz of California.

Visitation will continue until 7 p.m. today in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave. Services will be 1 p.m. Thursday in St. Viator Catholic Church, 2461 E. Flamingo Road. Burial will follow in Palm Valley View Memorial Park.

Jack Charles Hall

Jack Charles Hall, 52, of Boulder City died Friday in Boulder City. He was born Oct. 17, 1947, in Alameda, Calif. A resident for one year, he was a retired utility company service representative, a member of the Native Sons of the Golden West, 32nd Degree Mason, Scottish Rite Bodies, Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 196 in Oroville, Calif., International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 1245, a lifetime member of the California Four Wheel Drive Association and charter member and past president of the Ophir Gopher Jeep Club.

He is survived by his wife, Christina Laura Thomas-Hall; one daughter, Stephanie Houston, and two stepsons, Adam Thomas and Todd Thomas, all of Chico, Calif.; one stepdaughter, Cara Thomas of Boulder City; one sister, Donna Wennerstrom of Hayward, Calif.; and three grandchildren.

A memorial service will be 1 p.m. Saturday in Palm Mortuary, 800 S. Boulder Highway, Henderson.

Joseph H. Havener Sr.

Joseph H. Havener Sr., 81, of Boulder City died Saturday in a local care center. He was born June 23, 1918, in Aldie, Va. A resident for six years, he was a retired federal penal system warden and a World War II Army Air Corps veteran.

He is survived by one son, Joseph H. Havener Jr. of Boulder City; one sister, Emily Hudson of Germantown, Md.; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

No local services are scheduled. Burial will be in Costa Mesa, Calif. Palm Mortuary, 800 S. Boulder Highway, Henderson, is handling arrangements.

Irene V. Hicks

Irene V. Hicks, 80, of Las Vegas died Monday in Las Vegas. She was born Oct. 10, 1919, in Scott City, Kan. A resident for four months, she was a retired beautician.

She is survived by one sister, Pauline Kidwell of Scott City; four grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Services will be 5 p.m. Friday in Palm Mortuary, 7400 W. Cheyenne Ave.

Daniel Dale Iwachniuk

Daniel Dale Iwachniuk, 47, of Las Vegas died Dec. 21 in a California hospital. He was born Oct. 4, 1952, in Chicago. A resident for 28 years, he was a construction worker, an Army veteran and had built homes for several family members.

He is survived by his mother, Ann Iwachniuk, four sisters, Susan Hatch, Dianne Rosser, Darlene Moriarty and Holly Jones, five nieces, and three nephews, all of Las Vegas.

A celebration of life will be 1 p.m. Saturday in Palm Mortuary, 7400 W. Cheyenne Ave.

Ella Grace James

Ella Grace James, 71, of Las Vegas died Wednesday in a local hospital. She was born Jan. 31, 1928, in London. A resident for 12 years, she was a retired assembly worker in the electronics industry.

She is survived by two sons, Clarence R. James Jr. of North Las Vegas and Raymond E. James of Elkhart, Ind.; one daughter, Jacquline L. Nelson of Virginia Beach, Va.; and five grandchildren.

A memorial service will be noon Sunday in Palm Mortuary, 7400 W. Cheyenne Ave.

Alison M. Kirby

Alison M. Kirby, 81, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in Las Vegas. She was born April 24, 1918, in Hickory Flat, Miss. A resident for more than 12 years, she was a retired federal government accountant.

She is survived by two sons, Bobby Kirby of Bonham, Texas, and Richard Kirby of Oxnard, Calif.; one daughter, Kathryn Chester of Las Vegas; one sister, Mary Shinault of St. Louis; one uncle, Ernest McBroom, and one aunt, Lois Shaw, both of Denver; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled one hour prior to 9 a.m. services Thursday in Palm Mortuary, 7400 W. Cheyenne Ave.

Jeff Levine, 49, of Las Vegas died Friday in Las Vegas. He was born Dec. 7, 1950, in Las Vegas. A lifelong resident, he was an activity director for a rehabilitation center.

He is survived by his wife, Donna; three sons, A.J. Brown, Michael Partridge and Patrick Martinez, one daughter, Tracy Partridge, and one brother, Joe Levine, all of Las Vegas.

A memorial service will be 3 p.m. Friday in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave. Burial will follow in Palm Valley View Memorial Park.

Dolores Mathias, 81, of Pahrump died Monday in Las Vegas. She was born Sept. 25, 1918, in New York. A resident for many years, she was a cafeteria manager.

She is survived by one son, Arthur Mathias of Pahrump.

Elizabeth W. Myers

Elizabeth W. Myers, 84, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in a local care center. She was born Nov. 19, 1915, in Waldron, Ark. A resident for 2 1/2 years, she was a retired teacher.

She is survived by one son, Ron Myers of Las Vegas; one sister, Charlene Hicks of Rialto, Calif.; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Trueheart Peatross

Trueheart Peatross, 95, of Las Vegas died Sunday in a local hospital. He was born April 6, 1906, in Danville, Va. A resident for 1 1/2 years, he was a retired bank guard and courier and a former member of the Masons.

He is survived by one son, Maurice Peatross of Las Vegas; one brother, Clifton Peatross, and three sisters, Evalina Peatross, Mabel Peatross and Mae Peatross, all of Danville, Va.

Edward I. Pelligra

Edward I. Pelligra, 77, of Las Vegas died Monday in a local hospital. He was born Aug. 31, 1922, in Paterson, N.J. A resident for 38 years, he was a retired floor covering contractor and a World War II Army veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Loretta; one daughter, Dawn Downs, and two sons, Dennis Pelligra and Russell Walker, all of Las Vegas; more than 15 grandchildren and more than nine great-grandchildren.

Marjorie Reed

Marjorie Reed, 81, of Las Vegas died Saturday in Las Vegas. She was born June 29, 1918, in Twin Falls, Idaho. A resident for 43 years, she was a retired Clark County schoolteacher, president of the University Club and officer in the Friendship Club.

She is survived by one daughter, Leslie Wilson of Lemoore, Calif.; four sisters, Lauralee Macy of McMinnville, Ore., Mary Hickman of Eugene, Ore., Dorothy Christensen of Las Vegas and Barbara Roy of Twin Falls; and one grandchild.

Visitation is scheduled 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. services Thursday in Palm Mortuary, 1600 S. Jones Blvd.

Mary Virginia Roy

Mary Virginia Roy, 81, of Las Vegas died Friday in a local hospice. She was born July 24, 1918, in West Virginia. A resident for 38 years, she was a retired retail saleswoman.

She is survived by one son, Gary Roy of Lavergne, Tenn.; three brothers; three sisters; and one grandchild.

Esther Rubino

Esther Rubino, 81, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in Las Vegas. She was born Jan. 16, 1918, in Brooklyn, N.Y. A resident for 20 years, she was a retired accountant and a member of the Nevada National Alliance of the Mentally Ill.

She is survived by one son, Dan Rubino of Las Vegas; one grandchild and one great-grandchild.

Marie Rudd

Marie Rudd, 79, of Pahrump died Monday in Pahrump. She was born May 29, 1920, in Michigan. A resident for 44 years, she was a civil service secretary, a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary and Navy Fleet Reserve Ladies Auxiliary.

She is survived by two daughters, Patricia A. Bird of Pahrump and Linda Miller of Vancouver, Wash.; one sister, Barbara Jean Jordan of San Diego; and two granddaughters, Leann Salamy and Kendal Bird Adams.

Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Thursday in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City. Pahrump Family Mortuary, 2240 E. Calvada Blvd., Pahrump, is handling arrangements.

James P. Rush III

James P. Rush III, 52, of Las Vegas died Saturday in Las Vegas. He was born Jan. 26, 1947, in Pennsylvania. A resident for many years, he was a firefighter.

He is survived by one son, Michael Rush of Las Vegas.

Almond Pete Sanders

Almond Pete Sanders, 67, of Las Vegas died Sunday in a local care center. He was born April 26, 1932, in Hartwell, Ga. A resident for two years, he was a government mail handler, a Korean War and Vietnam War Army veteran, a lifetime member of Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion.

He is survived by his wife, Garnet Faye; one daughter, Pamela Barrett of Needles, Calif.; one son, Jeffery P. Sanders of Phoenix; and two grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 5-7 p.m. today in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave. Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday in Palm Chapel, Eastern. Burial will follow in Palm Valley View Memorial Park.

She is survived by one son, Robert Schroeder of Westlake, Ohio; one daughter, Mary Lou Sarkissian of Las Vegas; one brother, Paul Arthur of Parma, Ohio; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Frank E. Spaulding Jr., 60, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in Las Vegas. He was born March 8, 1939, in Oregon. A longtime resident, he was an aircraft electrician for the U.S. government and a veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Marsha; one son, Rick Spaulding of Reno; three daughters, Kim Gold of Kittery, Maine, and Rose Eighmy and Lisa Spillman, both of Las Vegas; his mother, Edith Hill of Albany, Ore.; two brothers, George Kirbu of Big Bear Lake, Calif., and Don Hill of Las Vegas; 12 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Mary C. Speight, 78, of Henderson died Monday in a local hospice. She was born Jan. 19, 1921, in England. A resident for 11 years, she was a homemaker, a member of the Southern Nevada Museum Guild and Phi Epsilon Phi Sorority.

She is survived by her husband, Harold Speight, and one son, Philip D. Speight, both of Henderson; and one grandchild.

Norman R. Stoneback, 74, of Washington state died Tuesday in Las Vegas. He was born June 22, 1925, in Minnesota. A resident for six months, he was a postal service manager and a veteran of the Merchant Marines.

He is survived by two sons, Jeff Stoneback of Las Vegas and Howard Stoneback of Washington; one daughter, Delores Ingram and one sister, Virginia Freelund, both of Washington; two brothers, Donald Stoneback of Washington and Thomas Stoneback of Las Vegas; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Visitation will continue until 8 p.m. today in Bunkers Mortuary, 925 Las Vegas Blvd. North. Burial will be in Washington.

Wanphen Udomprasert

Wanphen Udomprasert, 61, of Las Vegas died Monday in Las Vegas. She was born Sept. 25, 1938, in Thailand. A resident for nine months, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by one daughter, Waawwadee Suranunt of North Hollywood, Calif.

Jean Webster

Jean Webster, 65, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in a local hospital. She was born April 11, 1934, in Grand Haven, Mich. A resident for 21 years, she was a retired hotel baker and a member of the Culinary Union.

She is survived by her husband, Roger; two daughters, Tammie Steiner of Las Vegas and Debra Grunthaner of Phoenix; two sons, Robert Webster of Phoenix and Ronald Webster of Las Vegas; two brothers, Larry Mills and Lowen Mills, both of Grand Haven; one sister, Judy Vandenberg of Boca Raton, Fla.; and five grandchildren.

A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Friday in Palm Mortuary, 1600 S. Jones Blvd.

Damien Lamont Wilborn Jr., 21 weeks, died Thursday in a local hospital. He was born Aug. 3, 1999, in Las Vegas.

He is survived by his mother, Karise Gilbert, his father, Damien Lamont Wilborn Sr., his grandparents, Andrea Wilborn, Armisha Gilbert, Danny Holmes and Roderick Lee, his great-grandmothers, Barbara Lee, Louvenia Wilborn, Shelly Holmes and Joanne Mask, and his great-great-grandmother, Flossie Logan, all of Las Vegas.

Visitation is scheduled noon until 2 p.m. services Thursday in Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St. Graveside services will follow in Palm Memorial Park.

Richard D. Willard, M.D., 64, of Las Vegas died Sunday in Las Vegas. He was born July 4, 1936, in Indiana. A resident for 20 years, he was a physician and a veteran.

He is survived by two sons, Bret Willard of Miami and Bart Willard of Fort Wayne, Ind.; one daughter, Vicki Yoder of Fort Wayne; his father, Ray E. Willard of New Castle, Ind.; one brother, Edward Willard of Hagerstown, Ind.; one sister, Barbara Bunger of Indiana; and eight grandchildren.

Walter James Wilson

Walter James Wilson, 53, of Las Vegas died Saturday in Las Vegas. He was born Jan. 31, 1946, in California. A resident for 1 1/2 years, he was an administrative assistant for a power company and a veteran of the Merchant Marines.

He is survived by three sisters, Audrey Wilson of Sacramento, Arlena Wilson Parks of Alameda, Calif., and Barbara Wilson of Eureka, Calif.; and one brother, Alex Wilson of Henderson.
