Letter: People redefined term ‘millennium’

In 1989 everyone was beginning to celebrate the "new decade." In 1899, people celebrated the "new century." How come nobody went around correcting people back then? I'll tell you why. Nobody cares. People like numbers ending in zero, and they wanted the big party this year. So relax. This isn't going to do any harm, and in the grand scheme of things, it really doesn't matter.
