Letter: Not-so-stressed train travel deserves look
Monday, Jan. 3, 2000 | 9:42 a.m.
Instead of boarding a train downtown or perhaps at the Rio, as opposed to bucking traffic to McCarran International Airport -- where most airlines want you to arrive two or even three hours before flight time -- adds quite a bit to that one-hour flight. Then once arriving in Los Angeles, getting off downtown in Union Station is a snap compared to the horrendous traffic jams from Los Angeles International Airport out in the suburbs, where you'd have to rent a car or take expensive local transportation. This adds time and money.
I've been there, done that and a stress-free, leisurely train ride sounds great to me. Let's go for it!
