TRENTON, N.J. -- J.R. Henderson, the International Basketball League's second-leading scorer, poured in 29 points and led the Las Vegas Silver Bandits (6-10) to a 110-102 victory over the Trenton Shooting Stars (8-8) on Sunday night at Sovereign Bank Arena.
The win was the third in a row for Las Vegas, which has won five of its last eight games. Henderson has led the Silver Bandits in scoring in nine of the last 16 games.
"This is the way I know this team can play. We ran the offense the way we needed to in order to win this one," Henderson said. "Things are really going well for us right now and we need to keep this up."
Rocky Walls, the IBL's top rebounder, had a strong game, adding 16 points. Walls tied a season high in rebounds with 19. Isaac Burton, the league's leading assist man, was held to just one point in the first half but after hitting two big 3-pointers in the third quarter finished with 13. Burton dished out a game-high 10 assists.
The bench has been a big part of the Silver Bandits' recent success, and Marcus Liberty and DeeAndre Hulett added 10 points apiece Sunday, while Harold Ellis and Doug Swenson chipped in with nine points each.
The Silver Bandits are off today and will play at Trenton again Tuesday night before moving on to play two games in Richmond against the Rhythm Thursday and Friday. The Silver Bandits return home to the Thomas & Mack Center on Wednesday, Jan. 12, to play Cincinnati in a 7 p.m. game.
