FBI says books on death, firearms found in trailer

Tuesday, Feb. 29, 2000 | 10:39 a.m.

FBI agents have found books on firearms and contract killings in a search of a trailer belonging to David Kent Fitch, painting an eerie picture of a man linked to the disappearance of his wife.

According to documents filed in U.S. District Court, agents found some 25 books in a fifth-wheel trailer owned by Fitch, and the books hint at a fascination with firearms, explosives, disguises and death.

Among the books listed in court documents were "Kill Without Joy! The Complete How to Kill Book," "Hit Man: A Technical Manual for Independent Contractors," "The Death Dealer's Manual" and "100 Ways to Disappear and Live Free."

The items were found Feb. 18 after agents served a search warrant on a storage facility where the trailer was located.

Fitch's recent brush with the law began Feb. 8 when Henderson, Nev. police stopped him for speeding. Fitch was driving a car owned by Maria Bozi, his missing wife. He was carrying a Utah driver's license in the name of David Lee Krause.

According to an FBI affidavit, Fitch used an assumed name to purchase the trailer and lived in it during the fall of last year.

Also found in the trailer were a false mustache, a business card and catalog from Fox's Spy Outlet, various bank identification cards, a telephone voice changer, an electronic slot machine manipulation device, boxes of ammunition and a fully loaded .44-caliber revolver.

As a convicted felon, Fitch is prohibited from possessing either firearms or ammunition. He already faces one count of being a felon in possession of firearms. He is being held in the Clark County Detention Center pending an April 10 trial on that charge.

Records show Fitch has 1992 convictions out of Phoenix for manufacturing counterfeit currency and attempting to sell marijuana, both felonies.

An affidavit filed in connection with the trailer search said there is probable cause to believe that Fitch "has committed the offenses of felon in possession of firearms..., fraud and related activity in connection with identification documents..., murder..., and bank fraud."

Fitch, 41, married Bozi, a 46-year-old Englishwoman in April. They moved to Southern Nevada and lived in a mobile home owned by Bozi. Prosecutors said she disappeared sometime between Sept. 4 and Sept. 7.

Fitch traveled to England in November under the Krause name. He married a woman there last month before returning to the United States, according to Assistant U.S. Attorney Gregory Damm.

Damm said the new bride, Patricia Molano Gutierrez, 30, is alive and well in England.
