Home cooking turned out to be just what the Silver Bandits needed Sunday night as they avenged back-to-back losses to St. Louis by beating the Swarm 112-96 in front of 3,019 at the Thomas & Mack Center.
The Silver Bandits (23-16) had lost four in a row and five of their last six but the losing streak came to an end as J.R. Henderson scored 25 points to lead seven players in double figures. The Silver Bandits jumped out to a 37-15 lead by the end of the first quarter and never trailed in the game.
The Bandits were hurt by an injury to guard Isaac Burton (corneal abrasion of the right eye), who had 10 points in the first half but sat out the rest of the game.
"When we jumped out to that early lead in the first half," said Silver Bandits forward Harold Ellis, "We knew we had to keep the intensity up, and we did all the way through."
The Silver Bandits led by as many as 31 points, although in the fourth quarter the Swarm made a run to pull within 12 before the Bandits pulled away in the final minute.
