The Nevada Highway Patrol said Stan T. Ross of Brooklyn Park was pronounced dead at the scene Sunday 13 miles west of Battle Mountain.
Troopers said Ross was eastbound on the interstate when his vehicle drifted off the roadway and overturned. The 7:50 a.m. accident was blamed on driver inattention.
Passenger Cassandra McCloud, 28, of Sacramento, Calif., suffered moderate head and back injuries and was taken to a Battle Mountain hospital.
The accident is under investigation.
Battle Mountain is located 220 miles east of Reno.
