UNLV notes: Rebels net win over Spartans

The 60th-ranked UNLV women's tennis team swept singles play and defeated unranked San Jose State 6-0 in a non-conference match at the Los Gatos Tennis Club Thursday. The Lady Rebels improved to 5-3 while the Spartans fell to 4-3. At the top spot, 26th-ranked Katarina Malec moved to 20-5 overall this season after a 6-0, 6-0 whitewashing of Anna Nordell. Malec, a senior, is now 7-1 in dual matches.

* The UNLV track and field team was in first place after the first day of the Mountain West Conference indoor meet at Colorado Springs.

* UNLV's softball team defeated Tulsa 5-3 at Rebel Diamond to improve its season record to 10-4.
