Letter: Have pity on rape victim, child
Thursday, Feb. 24, 2000 | 9:32 a.m.
From news accounts we learned that Carter was held prisoner by Floyd, raped repeatedly by the man who also threatened her life and then told her his plans for mass murder.
Now if I've got this right, District Attorney Stewart Bell tossed this violated young girl in jail because her relating this horrible story of rape and torture to the jury at Floyd's trial will be the "crowning touch" in his request of the death sentence for Floyd.
I know Las Vegas must have religious or right to life organizations or adoption services that sponsor homes or other settings for pregnant women, where they can receive adequate prenatal medical care and rape counseling.
Why don't the many talk masters on the radio leave President Clinton, Sen. John McCain, taxes and guns alone for a day or two and rage about a real injustice, a girl whose biggest crime against society was to suffer a horrendous sexual assault. If you have no feelings for this woman, what about the child?
Do you remember a few years back the rapes and imprisonment of young women in Bosnia? Kind of sounds similar, doesn't it?
