Family: Father Larry; mother Ann; sister Stephanie.

Contribution to prep sports: Besides playing a variety of instruments, Balmer serves as a student conductor for the school's band during its football and boys and girls basketball games. "I was a section leader my sophomore year, and we had the same responsibilities on a lesser level," Balmer said. "That got me into conducting and student leadership." Balmer became interested in music through her parents, both of whom played in the band during their high school years. "It runs in my family."
