UNLV golf team opens spring play in Hawaii

HONOLULU -- The UNLV men's golf team will be in action for the first time this year when it opens play today at the 24th annual John A. Burns Intercollegiate tournament.
The ninth-ranked Rebels have not competed since coming in seventh out of 18 teams at the Golfworld Collegiate Invitational on Nov. 7.
This week's three-day tournament, which is part of the Rolex Collegiate Tour administered by the College Golf Foundation, will be played at the par-72, 6,916-yard Leilehua Golf Course.
The 17-team field includes several other ranked teams according to the latest MasterCard Collegiate Golf Rankings: No. 5 Oklahoma State, No. 8 BYU, No. 20 Oklahoma, No. 23 New Mexico and No. 24 Arizona.
