Sun Country adds LV hotel bag-check service

Tuesday, Feb. 22, 2000 | 10:36 a.m.

Minneapolis-based Sun Country Airlines is joining the growing number of airlines offering passenger check-in services at Las Vegas hotels.

The airline announced Monday it signed a check-in services contract with Certified Airline Passenger Services (CAPS) in Las Vegas.

Under the contract, Sun Country passengers can pay $6 for CAPS to issue seat assignments and boarding passes and check and transport suitcases to the plane. Passengers can check in from two to 12 hours before flight time and participating properties are the Sahara, Bally's, Mandalay Bay, Imperial Palace and Luxor hotel-casinos.

Las Vegas-based National Airlines offers a free hotel check-in service for guests of properties owned by a National investor, Harrah's Entertainment Inc. These properties are the Harrah's and Rio hotel-casinos.

CAPS began offering the service at other properties and with other airlines last year.

Marty Moore, vice president of marketing and development for CAPS, said his company already has contracts with America West and Delta and deals pending with Continental and Southwest airlines. Moore said the company is in the process of adding services at all Park Place Entertainment Corp. and Mandalay Resort Group properties, the Venetian and Bellagio.
