Storm system causes minor flooding
Tuesday, Feb. 22, 2000 | 9:24 a.m.
A storm system that swept through Las Vegas Monday morning dumped up to 1.2 inches of rain in some areas of the valley, causing minor flooding in low-lying areas and swamping some intersections.
There were no injuries and no serious damage was reported.
On Mt. Charleston, northwest of the city, 18 inches of new snow was reported, with roads leading to the retreat impassable Monday morning. By afternoon, chains or snow tires were required to navigate up the mountain.
Some residents were evacuated from the Miracle Mile Mobile Home Park, but churning waters did not reach the trailer homes, as they did in a devastating flood in July.
The rainfall for the month of February climbed to 1.3 inches with Monday's storm.
