Letter: Goodman obsessed with NBA team
Tuesday, Feb. 22, 2000 | 9:27 a.m.
He is spending an inordinate amount of his time on trying to get an NBA team here instead of conducting stewardship of the city.
Most of us don't want an NBA team in Las Vegas. Furthermore, we don't want Goodman to spend his time or taxpayer money on his basketball fetish.
We don't want to pay for his personal edifice (a new arena to house the team) or goodies to entice a marginal team to settle here. Tickets run $50-$60 per game and can run as high as $1,000 for special seating.
This is a high-roller's sport and a comp thing, not something for the average person's family. Mr. Mayor, you are not doing us a favor. Please forget about the NBA.
