BRIDGEPORT, Ind. -- Caesars Indiana officials are changing the Bridgeport casino's loading dock so the riverboat won't have to be closed during times of high water.
"We won't face this problem again," Caesars' spokeswoman Judy Hess said.
Casino officials were forced to close the boat late Friday because of concerns that the rising Ohio River could have caused problems with the loading dock.
The boat was so high that the dock, which can move up and down, could only reach the first of the vessel's four levels. But the hydraulic equipment on the dock, which extends over the river, would have been in the water.
Casino officials feared debris in the river might puncture the equipment and cause fluid to leak. So they built a temporary ramp.
The temporary ramp will remain until the water level goes down, Hess said. After that, changes will be made to prevent a similar problem.
