Flooding closes riverboat

BRIDGEPORT, Ind. -- Flooding along the Ohio River sparked by heavy rains closed Caesars' Glory of Rome riverboat casino.
The floating casino was closed early Saturday because floodwater debris might strike the hydraulic system that raises and lowers a ramp linking the boat with the shore. The boat wasn't expected to re-open until sometime today.
Riverboat spokeswoman Judy Hess estimates the closing would cost the casino "in the high hundreds of thousands" of dollars in lost revenue because Saturdays and Sundays attract the most gamblers.
The Glory of Rome is moored at Bridgeport 14 miles downstream from Louisville, Ky.
Other Indiana riverboat casinos in Rising Sun, Lawrenceburg and Evansville remained open following Friday's heavy rains.
