School district settles wrongful termination case

Cindy Glatz, who agreed to a $65,000 settlement, said she encountered problems when she alleged staff at the middle school were identifying and embarrassing students who received free lunches.
Her lawsuit claims former cafeteria manager Johanna Albrecht was the one who identified students enrolled in the federally funded, free-lunch program.
It's against state and federal laws to openly identify students who qualify for the federal lunch program, which is offered to students whose families can't pay full prices for school lunches.
Glatz, a cafeteria worker between February and September 1995, agreed not to work for the district again under terms of the settlement.
District lawyer Jeff Blanck said the district fired Glatz because it was "not happy with the work she was doing."
The district admitted no fault or wrongdoing in settling the lawsuit.
