Reno officer arrested for drunken driving

Officer Steven Mussell was booked Saturday night into the Washoe County Jail after he failed a field sobriety test.

Nevada Highway Patrol Trooper Jeff Bowers said Mussell was northbound on Highway 395 near Mill Street when his pickup slammed into the rear of a vehicle ahead of him.

The other vehicle, driven by April Geyer of Reno, had slowed because of traffic congestion.

Mussell escaped injury, but Geyer and her three passengers were taken to Washoe Medical Center, where they were released after treatment for minor injuries.

An investigation continues into the 6:45 p.m. accident.
