Nine Democratic county chairs support Gore

Nine of 17 Democratic county chairs from across Nevada declared their support Saturday for Al Gore's presidential campaign.
The eight other chairs haven't publicly endorsed a candidate yet in the race.
Among those coming out for the vice president were the chairs of the state's two most populous counties, Charles Waterman of Clark County and Shane Piccinini of Washoe County.
"Al Gore cares about this state, plain and simple," Waterman said. "Every Democrat should support Al Gore at their local precinct meetings and make sure Nevada gets the right man for the job."
Nevada's Democratic precinct meetings will be held statewide at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 12.
Gore earlier won endorsements from U.S. Sens. Harry Reid and Richard Bryan, both D-Nev., Rep. Shelley Berkely, D-Nev., former Gov. Bob Miller and former Las Vegas Mayor Jan Jones.
"Al Gore has been a leader on and fought for issues that affect all the people of Nevada," Reid said. "That's why you see county chairs not just from the Southern Nevada urban counties supporting Al Gore, but those from northern rural counties."
Also endorsing Gore were the Democratic chairs of Carson City, Churchill, Elko, Humboldt, Lyon, Nye and Pershing counties.
