GV, Durango win state bowling titles

Green Valley's boys and Durango's girls won the first Nevada state bowling championships Thursday at the Orleans Bowling Center.
Two days after bowling the season's only 300 game, Gator Brian Karr rolled a 707 series -- including a 244 game -- to lead his club past Durango, 3011-2847. Trailblazer Dan Johnson was named boys MVP for the tournament.
In girls action, Durango's Carly Wickman bowled a 638 series -- including a 248 game -- to help the Trailblazers over Chaparral, 2661-2428. Wickman was named girls tournament MVP.
