BILOXI, Miss. -- Isle of Capri Casinos Inc. agreed Thursday to buy land for a proposed gaming site in Missouri almost a week after announcing the planned acquisition of a Kansas City gambling vessel.
Isle of Capri will pay about $70 million for the project, Chief Financial Officer Rex Yeisley said.
Davis Gaming Boonville Inc. will sell the land to Isle of Capri for a planned casino consisting of approximately 900 slot machines and 30 table games in 28,000 square feet of gaming space.
The casino would be in Boonville, Mo., 3 miles north of Interstate 70 between Kansas City and St. Louis.
Isle of Capri agreed Feb. 8 to buy the Flamingo Hilton Riverboat Casino for $33.5 million.
Isle of Capri owns and operates seven riverboat, dockside and land-based casinos, including locations in Tunica, Biloxi and Vicksburg, two locations in Louisiana, and one in Colorado.
The company also operates a harness racing track in Pompano Beach, Fla., and the Enchanted Capri cruise ship that sails out of New Orleans.
