GARY, Ind. -- The head of the National Coalition Against Gambling Expansion visited northwest Indiana to rally anti-gambling and anti-casino forces.
Tom Grey, executive director of the coalition, was in town long enough to give a news conference, speak at a seminar and take a few shots at the gambling industry. Most of his comments targeted Jack Binion, the head of a gambling empire, who Grey believes wants to turn northwest Indiana into the next Las Vegas.
Binion recently purchased Hammond's Empress Casino.
But fighting gambling in Lake County seems a hard sell since the casino boats are a multi-million-dollar industry that keep cities swimming in money for local infrastructure.
