Jennifer Breeden
High school: Green Valley
Class: Junior
Sport: Girls soccer
Family: Father Curtis; mother Shirley; brothers Erik, Bryan
Last week: Breeden tallied four goals and three assists while leading the Gators to victories over Silverado, Basic and Las Vegas. Her goal against the Skyhawks on Wednesday helped Green Valley wrap up the Southeast Division title, and her goal and three assists on Saturday spearheaded the Henderson school's 11-0 victory over the Wildcats in the first round of the Sunrise Region playoffs. "Silverado is our biggest rival, so we pumped ourselves up for that one," Breeden said. "Against Las Vegas, we knew anyone can beat anyone on any given day."
This season: Breeden leads the Gators in both goals (23) and assists (15) from her striker position. "She's able to keep her head up and decide what her best move is, whether to dish it off to a teammate or make a move herself," Green Valley coach Ken Goettsche said. "She can see when someone is coming to her, and if someone has a better opportunity, she's capable of giving it off." Added Breeden, "I love giving assists more than anything," she said. "If I give someone an assist, that means I worked my butt off to get them that goal."
