The State Bar of Nevada plans to dedicate a veteran's memorial to recognize Nevada attorneys who lost their lives while serving their country.
The memorial is located in front of the State Bar building, 600 E. Charleston Blvd., one block east of Las Vegas Boulevard and will be dedicated by Sparks native, longtime Nevada attorney and World War II veteran Jack Streeter.
Streeter served in the 1st Infantry Division where he was awarded five Silver Stars, five Purple Hearts and two Bronze Stars for his service. Streeter will be joined by local dignitaries.
"With the completion of the memorial this month, Presidents Day seemed like an appropriate time to dedicate it and bring some prominent Nevadans together for the occasion," Ann Bersi, president of the Board of Governors of the State Bar, said.
The memorial reads: "In remembrance. This flagpole memorial is dedicated to the attorneys of Nevada who gave their lives in defense of the United States of America."
It was made possible through a grant from the Reno-based E.L. Cord Foundation.
