Bernstein plans his announcement
Attorney Ed Bernstein plans to announce next month his bid for the Senate seat being vacated by Sen. Richard Bryan, D-Nev.
Bernstein, a Democrat, has set March 13 to officially announce his challenge to former Rep. John Ensign, a Republican. Ensign, who narrowly lost a bid to unseat Sen. Harry Reid, D-Nev., last year, raised more than $2 million for his run as of Dec. 31, compared with more than $400,000 raised by Bernstein.
Ensign has been raising funds since the beginning of last year, while Bernstein began his effort in November.
Police checking casino surveillance
Metro Police homicide detectives checked surveillance tapes this morning at a casino to try determine who was last seen with a man later found dead at a recreational vehicle park Tuesday.
Aaron A. Older, 34, was found dead about 4:10 a.m. at the Oasis Las Vegas Motor Coach Park in the 2700 block of Windmill Lane near Las Vegas Boulevard South. He had been stabbed to death, police said.
Older, who lived on Koval Lane, was dropped off near the Strip by his roommate, Lt. Wayne Petersen said. Police would not reveal which casino Older went into.
Police are trying to determine whom he met up with and how he made it to the RV park.
Residents of the RV park heard two men arguing and later Older was found dead, face down in the grass, police said.
Anyone with information in this case is asked to call Metro's homicide unit at 229-3521 or Secret Witness at 385-5555.
