Attorney Ed Bernstein plans to announce his candidacy for U.S. Senate next month.
Bernstein, a Democrat, will hold news conferences in Las Vegas and Reno on March 13 to officially announce his challenge to former Rep. John Ensign, a Republican.
The two are seeking the Senate seat being vacated by Sen. Richard Bryan, D-Nev.
Ensign, who narrowly lost a bid to unseat Sen. Harry Reid, D-Nev., last year, raised more than $2 million for his run as of Dec. 31, compared with more than $400,000 raised by Bernstein.
Ensign has been raising funds since the beginning of last year, while Bernstein began his effort in November.
