Weeklong program stresses child safety
Tuesday, Feb. 15, 2000 | 11:14 a.m.
It's National Child Passenger Safety Week and local and national organizations have been educating valley parents on the importance of properly restraining children in the car.
This year's events focus on children up to the age of 8. Automobile organizations say nearly 90 percent of child car safety seats are improperly installed. In addition many parents let their children ride unrestrained.
Concerned parents can attend a safety check from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at Sunrise Mountain View Hospital at Cheyenne Avenue and Tenaya Way. The free event will be conducted by representatives from Clark County Safe Kids Coalition and UNLV's Safe Community Partnership, an outreach program of the college's Transportation Research Center.
Clark County Safe Kids Coalition recently received the Chevy Venture Mobile Car Seat Check-Up Minion that will be used Saturday.
