Maria Bozi's husband, David Kent Fitch, was stopped by Henderson police Wednesday on a speeding violation. A check of the Ford Thunderbird he was driving revealed that it was registered to Bozi, who has been missing since Labor Day.
Fitch, 41, gave police permission to search the vehicle and his two storage units. He was arrested when they found two firearms in the storage units and a records check revealed he was a felon. Felons are not allowed to own or possess firearms.
During an interview, Fitch admitted he had taken money from Bozi's account using her ATM card. He also told authorities he cashed a $40,000 check of Bozi's after her disappearance.
According to court documents, Bozi, 46, was reported missing in September after Citibank tried to contact Bozi at her home in England to ask her about a series of $1,000 bank withdrawals.
Bozi and Fitch were married in England last April and moved to the North Shore Trailer Park in Lake Mead shortly thereafter. Authorities say Bozi hasn't been seen or heard from since August.
Fitch reportedly broke into Bozi's trailer after the U.S. Park Service sealed it and placed her possessions in storage.
According to court documents, Fitch married another woman in January in England and then returned to the United States in February under the name David Lee Krause.
FBI Special Agent Joe Dickey said the second wife remains in England.
"Foul play has not been determined as a cause, but nothing has been ruled out," Dickey said.
