NevStar Gaming & Entertainment Corp. of Las Vegas announced its independent auditor, McGladrey & Pullen, has resigned.
The firm resigned Dec. 22 for unspecified reasons. The resignation was first revealed in a filing made with the Securities and Exchange Commission Wednesday. The firm of Piercy Bowler Taylor & Kern was named as the firm's accountant.
The filing stated that NevStar had "no disagreements with McGladrey & Pullen on any matter of accounting principles or practices, financial statement disclosure, or auditing scope or procedure... ." McGladrey & Pullen stated that it concurred with this statement.
In its auditors report, filed with the company's annual report Oct. 8, 1998, McGladrey & Pullen expressed "substantial doubt about the company's ability to continue as a going concern."
NevStar filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in early December.
The company's annual report for the fiscal year June 30, 1999, has yet to be audited, and has not been filed with the SEC.
Separately, NevStar announced that its stock was delisted from the Nasdaq exchange on Dec. 8. The exchange had suspended trading Dec. 3, two days after the company's bankruptcy filing, citing the need for "additional information." Trading was frozen at 44 cents.
NevStar owns and operates the Mesquite Star Hotel & Casino in Mesquite.
