Letter: Why does MLK have his own day?

It also brought to mind how strange it is that two of our greatest presidents are relegated to a single day of reverence with no real celebration, no parades, etc.
Yet Martin Luther King gets a day all his own, with parades and heavy media coverage. My comments are not to be construed as a race issue, just a curiosity as to where our priorities are today. Also, why not a day to honor the original Americans, the Indians.
There are, I think, some great ones who influenced our country's history. Go figure.
