Wine buy: Peter Lehmann-Barossa Shiraz ‘97
Wednesday, Feb. 9, 2000 | 8:55 a.m.
Australia has been wowing both casual and serious wine drinkers for some time. Many of the most famous growers hail from south Australia's Barossa Valley. From that lush valley comes this Shiraz (what Australians call Syrah), a dark red wine rich with ripe fruit and hints of vanilla and coconut. If you like this wine, buy several bottles because the price is probably going to rise. This is a wine you can lay down for several years.
Available at Nevada Wine Cellar ($14.99) and Lee's Discount Liquors, Sunset location ($14.49).
