StockUp.com Inc., an Internet traffic development company based in Las Vegas, will change its name to Preference Technologies Inc. later this month, the company announced today.
Officials said the new name more accurately describes the business and operations of the company.
Initially, the company provided consumers information about the stock market, finances and individual stock issues, but now, the company will broaden its coverage to news, sports and business, using proprietary Internet technology the company is developing. The company's Quotestream technology will deliver a customized news product to subscribers, building Internet traffic for content providers.
The company, headed by President and Chief Executive Officer Michael Calderone, has about 130 employees and is headquartered at 333 N. Rancho Drive.
Vegas.com, a web site that includes the Las Vegas Sun and publications of the Greenspun Media Group, is a content provider for StockUp.com.
When the company changes its name Feb. 23, it will adopt the symbol PFER for the over-the-counter trading of its stock. The company also announced a two-for-one stock split effective that date.
