Developers snub plan to pay for parks

A plan by Mayor Oscar Goodman calling for homebuilders to pick up more of the tab for Las Vegas parks is drawing a cool reception from developers.
The homebuilders are flexing their political clout and have lined up support against the proposal, saying higher taxes will backfire, pricing new home buyers out of the market and hurting smaller developers.
"I'm definitely in favor of more parks, but I think we need to study the structure of how we fund them rather than planting a tax on the residential developers," city councilman Michael Mack said.
