Burning Man frolickers can expect hefty ticket price hike

Organizers of the week-long event said the cost of admission will range from $95 to $300, depending on how far in advance the tickets are purchased. Last year's prices started at $65 dollars and topped out at $125.
The counterculture festival culminates on Labor Day with the burning of large wooden statue of a man.
San Francisco-based organizers said higher ticket prices are necessary in part to offset increases in what the federal government charges them to hold the festival on land managed by the Bureau of Land Management.
Event sponsors must also pay for sewage, cleanup, security, fire protection and other services.
Burning Man has applied for a permit to stage this year's festival near Gerlach. A decision on the permit is expected in May.
