Small businesses launch PR campaign
Several Southern Nevada small businesses are launching a promotional campaign to help United Way of Southern Nevada reach its $10.6 million campaign goal.
The group is called the United Way Small Business Initiative and plans to speak to other small businesses in the valley on the importance of supporting the community.
Participating businesses include the Better business Bureau; Construction Notebook; Copywrite, Ink.; The Creative Group; H & A Creative Business Solutions; Nevada First Bank; Priority Staffing; and Robert Ashworth, CPAs.

Palo Verde student recognized by AHA
Nicole Fontana, a junior at Palo Verde High School, was recognized by the American Heart Association for her entry in the associations poster-art contest.
Her entry, "First Love" will be printed as posters that will be given to major contributors to the American Heart Association in recognition of their volunteerism.
The contest was open to amateur and professional artists of all ages.
Titus appointed to board of Medical Examiners
Dr. Robin L. Titus has been appointed to a four-year term on the Nevada State Board of Medical Examiners.
Titus, a board certified family practice physician, has practiced medicine in Nevada since 1981. She is chief of staff at the South Lyon Medical Center in Yerington and is the Lyon County Health Officer.
Titus is a Wellington resident and is in private practice at the Smith Valley Medical Clinic in Wellington.
Area entrepreneurs credited for new dock
Nine local and national companies received certificates of appreciation by Alan O'Neill, superintendent of the Lake Mead National Recreation area, for their participation in constructing and installing a new public courtesy dock at Katherine Landing on Lake Mohave.
The cost to build the dock was $43,000. The companies that received certificates include Premier Materials Technology of Minneapolis; Ace Roto-Mold of Hospers, Ind.; Steel Engineers of Las Vegas; Payless Cashways Inc. of Las Vegas; Snavely Forest Products of Chandler, Ariz.; All American Houseboat Transportation of Redding, Calif.; Seven Resorts Inc. of Irvine, Calif.; Lake Mead Resorts of Boulder City; and Lake Mohave Resort of Bullhead City, Ariz.
Immunizations
Health District immunization clinics are open each week in and around Las Vegas. Immunizations are provided without charge to children and young adults under the age of 21 in any of four public health centers and 36 satellite clinics. The following clinics will be open this week, Feb. 9 - 15:
DISTRICT HEALTH CENTER: 625 Shadow Lane, 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
NORTH LAS VEGAS PUBLIC HEALTH CENTER: 3262 Civic Center Drive, 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
HENDERSON PUBLIC HEALTH CENTER: 129 W. Lake Mead Drive, Building A, Suite 10, 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
EAST LAS VEGAS PUBLIC HEALTH CENTER: 560 N. Nellis Blvd., Suite E12, 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
EOB NORTH LAS VEGAS WIC: 5A E. Tonopah Ave., 9 a.m.-noon and 1-3 p.m. Wednesday.
SOUTHEAST CLINIC: 130 N. Pecos (St. Thomas More Catholic Community -- Parish Hall), 9 a.m.-noon, Thursday.
SOUTHWEST CHILD HEALTH CLINIC: Christ the King Church, 4925 S. Torrey Pines & Tropicana Ave., noon-4 p.m. Friday.
FREMONT MEDICAL CLINIC: 4880 S. Wynn Road, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday. Immunizations free to anyone who walks in.
CAMBRIDGE COMMUNITY OUTREACH CENTER CLINIC: 3827 S. Maryland Parkway, 9 a.m.-noon Feb. 15.
