Woman hits slot jackpot

A 60-year-old woman in town to celebrate the Chinese New Year today hit the second Megabucks jackpot in nine days.
The woman, who has declined to have her name made public, was described only as Asian, by a representative of International Game Technology, makers of the statewide progressive $1 slot machines.
She hit the jackpot at 6:30 a.m. at the MGM Grand and collected $7,671,788. She was in town with family and other friends to celebrate the start of the Year of the Dragon, which begins this weekend.
A world record slot jackpot of $34,955,489 was hit on a Megabucks machine Jan. 26 by Las Vegas cocktail waitress Cynthia Jay at the Desert Inn.
