Employers Insurance Co. of Nevada sued the Resort At Summerlin Inc., alleging it failed to pay an outstanding $1.171 million in insurance premiums to cover all construction workers involved in the building of the resort. State Industrial Insurance System was renamed Employers Insurance after the government agency was privatized Jan. 1.
"This is a construction-related issue, and the insurance in question is related to the Owners Controlled Insurance Program. We want to state categorically that anything that is legitimately owed will be paid," responded Sean McGuinness, the Resort At Summerlin's assistant general counsel.
"The Owners Controlled Insurance Program is a wrap-up insurance program that ensures all insurance paid to cover the entire project is handled through one source, and it ensures there is no double billing and that all workers are covered," he said.
Separately, LLO Inc. doing business as Acme Electric is seeking to foreclose on the Resort at Summerlin, alleging J.A. Jones Management Services Inc. and the Resort at Summerlin Inc. failed to pay $600,000 for labor and materials provided to build the resort.
McGuinness declined comment on the Acme lawsuit.
