Free cosmetic surgery seminars offered

Las Vegas cosmetic surgeon Dr. Stephen W. Weiland, of the Weiland Group, will present free seminars on facial rejuvenation at 1 and 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Summerlin Hospital Medical Center, 653 Town Center Drive, Suite 108.

The seminars will offer information abut the latest and safest techniques in face, neck, brow, eye lifts, skin care and other non-surgical cosmetic procedures. The seminars are open to the public and those attending will receive gift certificates for a complimentary physician consultation, including computer imaging and a complimentary skin care evaluation. Emigrant Trail, Sagebrush Hill are topics of lecture

Fred Horlacher will present a lecture, "Tales from the Emigrant Trail and the Sagebrush Hill of Nevada" 10-11:30 a.m. Thursday at the Las Vegas Senior Center, 451 E. Bonanza Road. The lecture, sponsored by the Nevada Humanities Committee and the Humanities Discussion Group, will focus on mining in Nevada during 1840-1860. Sunset Park hosting community fair

Artists wishing to display their work at the 16th annual Craft Fair & Rib Burn-Off on May 6 and 7 at Sunset Park must have their applications submitted by March 14.

The work must be hand-crafted pieces, not made from kits, molds or commercial patterns. It will be displayed during the fair in 10-by-10-foot booths. The cost for each booth is $100.

In addition to the craft fair, the event features barbecue cooking competitions, entertainment and a car and boat exhibit.

Applications are available by mail and at all Clark County Parks and Recreation community centers. For more information, call 455-8206.

Amateur contest to award $60,000 in prizes

The International Library of Photography will award more than $60,000 in prizes this year in the International Open Amateur Photography Contest.

Valley photographers are eligible to win over 1,300 prizes. The contest is open to everyone, particularly beginners. The entry is free.

One photograph from only one of the following categories -- People, Travel, Pets, Children, Sports, Nature, Action, Human, Portraiture or other -- can be submitted. The photo must be color or a black-and-white print, unmounted, 8-by-10 inches or smaller.

The photographer's name and address must be on the back of the photograph as well as the category and the title of the photo.

Entries must be postmarked by March 31.
