Brothel owner wins Nevada Supreme Court case
Thursday, Feb. 3, 2000 | 9:23 a.m.
Justices ruled Wednesday in favor of David Burgess, owner of the Old Bridge Ranch just east of Reno.
The court also decided that the Storey County Commission didn't give Burgess proper notice of a hearing two years ago when he answered questions about his involvement with Hell's Angels.
Evidence presented at that hearing, including stories about the gang taken from the Internet, had nothing to do with Burgess, according to the justices.
Burgess testified in 1998 he was not a member of Hell's Angels, but wanted to be one. He said he was a member of a Reno motorcycle gang and was trying to "patch over" to the Hell's Angels.
After Storey County revoked his brothel license, Burgess got a federal court order that has allowed him to keep the business open.
