Nonprofits to receive $2.7 mil. in HUD funds

The Clark County Commission unanimously approved the allocation of about $2.7 million from its discretionary Department of Housing and Urban Development funds to several nonprofit organizations Tuesday.
The bulk of the money was distributed to senior housing projects, rental housing projects, first-time home-buyers and housing for residents with special needs.
The following organizations received the county's share of HUD funding: Nevada HAND, $475,370; Accessible Space Inc., $200,000; Catholic Charities, $718,254; Clark County Housing Authority, $102,877; Community Services Agency, $200,000; Habitat for Humanity, $200,000; Women's Development Center, $35,050; Economic Opportunity Board, $311,650 and HELP of Las Vegas, $500,000.
