Southwest Gas customers to see slight rate increase

Tuesday, Feb. 1, 2000 | 10:43 a.m.

The Public Utilities Commission of Nevada approved an increased assessment on Southwest Gas Corp. customers that helps finance the regulatory office and the state's Consumer Affairs Division.

The 0.01-point increase will result in an increase of a penny or less per month on the average residential customer's bill.

The assessment on Southwest Gas's billings was changed from 0.415 percent to 0.425 percent. The assessment was last modified in July 1998 when it went from 0.39 percent to 0.415 percent.

A spokeswoman for the PUC said the assessment is similar to those on all of the state's utilities, which raised $10.2 million in 1998 for the PUC and the consumer advocate's office.
